Concept

Inspired by the theme of the event: the famous Rodgers & Hammerstein song “Something Wonderful,” the concept explored their music through a lens of Art Deco and jazz. It emphasized the rhythm, vibrancy, and glamour of the era, capturing both the timeless appeal of the music and its emotional depth.

Process

I developed the design from Art Deco aesthetics, abstracting jazz instruments; trumpets, saxophones, and pianos, into geometric patterns, with a night-sparkle blue and gold palette evoking the elegance and energy of nighttime jazz while unifying the visual identity.

Outcome

Over three days, the event welcomed more than 500 attendees from Richmond and beyond. Guests dressed in suit attire, enhancing the immersive experience that celebrated Rodgers & Hammerstein’s music through a jazz-inspired, Art Deco visual concept.
