Overview

SOAE 2021 is the first public virtual event that American Petroleum Institute ever hosted and the event has garnered over 1,700 views from the East to the West side of the world, 90% more than in-person attendance in 2020. The audience fueled a two-way conversation, participating in polling, trivia questions, and Q&A during the livestream event. Moreover, the audiences could have access to the interactive report where it allowed users to engage through video, data visualizations, and social shareability.

Problem of the “Report Website”

Turning a 100-page-report book into a digital report was the most challenging of this project. The client would like to stick with displaying linear text more than transforming them into visuals. We knew this report site would give a long-scroll experience and might not be able to keep the audience engagement.

Solutions

With client’s specific desire, we believe the best solution is to offer the audiences an interactive website. The interactions will guide the audience journey with captivating animations, videos, and other interactive elements. This will keep them engage on the site longer.

Results

This went as we expected as we include a Trivia game at the beginning of the event asking questions where answers are all in the report. We discovered that 96% of the participants answered them correctly.
